Speaking someone’s language means a deeper connection, a bond through words. Conveying the power of connecting with world leaders, migrant students, new neighbors, and family members through an online resource can be demanding to get right.
Marketing the intangible takes visuals. It takes conveying a feeling, conveying the power of knowledge, through strong marketing and visual storytelling.
It takes a strong visual storyteller.
But 7 short years ago, video wasn’t even a part of the marketing plan at Mango Languages. Creative was barely kept in-house. Mango needed help creating animated & produced videos, print & digital collateral, and on-brand creative that hit the mark every time.
And so began my journey with Mango Languages. Starting as a UX/UI Intern, my positive attitude, creative eye, and strong video background quickly promoted me to a full-time marketing powerhouse position. Multimedia Producer, a role that hadn't yet existed at Mango, was built to fill the team’s needs by utilizing my creative chops.
Immediately, my video work proved its value and started to turn heads. Ad creation & campaigns turned a positive ROI, personally guided by ceaseless data-driven optimization. Product animations and tutorials entertained and informed a new generation of language learners. Cross-functional multimedia solved problems across teams with attention-grabbing tradeshow booth videos and captivating sales materials.
But creative needs never stop at just video. The team now had a consistent creative force for production-ready designs, layouts, templates, and multimedia projects big and small.
I became known as the go-to for design, problem-solving, dad jokes, and getting the job done. With expert proficiency in the entire Adobe suite of software (Premiere, After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, Audition, InDesign) and Figma, nothing was out of the creative realm of possibility.
A wealth of content started streaming out, spanning teams and platforms:
 - brochures & flyers
 - classroom lesson plans & teaching aids
 - copywriting
 - employee intranet moderating
 - front-end coding
 - newsletter visuals
 - photo retouching & composition
 - presentations
 - podcast editing and smoothing
 - social media visual & static images
 - webinar editing and smoothing
I quickly became known within the company for my consistency, hands-on creativity and ambition, and my brand-focused attention to detail. And as the solely retained designer over the past 7 years, I have naturally assumed the role of brand guardian & manager; helping hold, enforce, and preserve the brand guidelines, making sure Mango is well-represented everywhere.
Utilizing my arts & humanities background, my inherent passion is to tell stories through video. Paired with thoughtful editing, spot-on timing, and great design throughout, visual storytelling is my calling and fine-tunes my approach to advertising, tutorials, and interviews.
Working at a language company has given me the appreciation and exposure to over 70 languages and cultures. With this global view and the knowledge from ADA and DEI training, I love to approach every story from a human perspective.
In the past 7 years, I’ve been fortunate enough to film and record over 50 of the most passionate explorers and innovators from around the world and bring their stories to life:
My favorite interviews:
 - the multilingual banker in Senegal learning Portuguese
 - the diehard fútbol fan who moved to Argentina with no knowledge of Spanish
 - the voice of Ash in Pokémon and April from TNMT
 - the Potawatomi tribe members saving their language for generations to come
 - the college professor using digital resources ahead of his time
 - the manager at a Fortune 500 ride-sharing company
 - the librarian who volunteered at 5 Olympics
 - the teachers who procured curriculum for their influx of migrants, changing lives:
Another community important to me from the start was the fledgling YouTube channel. Originally treated as just a simple video hosting platform, I adopted and loved the platform, putting together a full video strategy, raising and interacting with a community of not just language learners, but language lovers.
And they responded.
In the past 7 years, subscribers are up 4,500%, we are closing in on 5 million views, and time spent watching now averages to somebody watching our content every single second, of every single day.
Playing at SXSW EDU 2021 and utilizing YouTube's new Premiere functionality, this video rocketed to success with over 1k watching and interacting at the time of launch.
I religiously dove into our analytics and discovered that the audience on YouTube was very different from all of our other channels.
Our social platforms generally skewed 66% female and 33% male, but YouTube was exactly the opposite, and slightly younger. This aligned directly with our target brand demographics, and presented an opportunity to speak to exactly who we wanted through video.
With this in mind, content created served all roles from enhancing and educating on the product, diving deep into full series on specific languages, to engaging short-form content.
This work ported flawlessly into our social media channels, along with a multitude of content as diverse as our audience. Social media posts were designed to be relevant, vibrant, unique and engage our community.
Over the years, I've become very familiar working with the different requirements of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Buzzsprout and their respective Business Manager platforms.
From banner ads, to video ads shown across Hulu, Discovery, AMC, and A&E, advertisements were crafted for sizes big and small. And advertising opportunities don’t get much bigger than on the World’s Largest Freestanding Sign.
Standing a staggering 28 stories tall, the Westgate Las Vegas video displays (there’s two!) measure 96’ by 79’ each and cover a combined 15,168 square feet with nearly 5,600,000 pixels (larger than the Dallas Cowboys’ stadium video displays.)
My brief was simple: full creative control to promote Mango with a revolving 15-second video. Sitting aside the largest and most-visited convention center in the world (the Las Vegas Convention Center), my video ran 720 times a day, 24 hours a day, for 4 days and showcased Mango to the world.
With 22 manager changes in 7 years, I’ve seen every single managerial style. And, while teaching me to be extremely flexible and adaptive to new managers and processes, I’ve learned what works when leading other creatives. I’ve honed my own communication and natural team-player abilities to manage contractors, onboard new hires, and interact with third-party designers.
I’m comfortable leading projects and teams with limited oversight, guiding, managing and refining the development of creative materials from conception to production. With my high attention to detail, I convey ideas effectively and visually while helping mentor and support teammates around me. And my peers and superiors have recognized this with high praise.
My drive and creative eye means I’m always striving for deeply impactful and visually striking work. A critical & strategic thinker, I’m used to resourcefulness, operating often without any budget.
I’ve worked directly with Associate Creative Directors, Creative Directors, Art Directors, Marketing Directors, and the C-suite, incorporating feedback with precision and a positive attitude.
I care deeply about my work, independent but team-focused, self-motivated and proactive, making sure deadlines are met with an end product I’m happy with.
Let me put my skills to work for you.
